Hi readers. See? I promised that it wouldn't just be some random weekly update. Maybe that means that this post won't be so gargantuan. LOL. I doubt it, but we'll see. Today was open house and professional development day here at JBA. Oh boy! We went into the gym which was horrible in itself because I didn't know how to get there. We had a meeting in the gym and then had a continental breakfast and mingled which meant that I talked to three people. One was a "friend" of celine and Cristina's. Christina Tam! She's now the person at L.A. that has Anita's old job. I don't think she liked me much because my O&M wasn't very good from the gym and I've been working here for five months. I must say, it was embarrassing, but I know almost every other building on campus. It's just the gym and the CRP where I'm not allowed to go. I forgot the STEP dorms too, but I'm not allowed there either. I know part of the way to the gym, but not all of it and definitely I don't know from the gym to the cafeteria which was my first trip that I took and it ended up being with Christina. She says the choir's doing well and they're going to sing for Julie Andrews at the end of the month. It sounds like Marlena finally got an accompanist. What a miracle! It's pretty funny since so many people said they'd never heard of the choir and they'd been going to Braille for a year or so. I would think with that kind of notoriety that Julie Andrews of all people would come visit them the higher people would have at least had some knowledge that the choir still existed. I know they did get fired from some big donor events though. I'm sorry but Anne was the best and Marlena never compared. Okay. Back to the update on open house. The first presentation was on the four areas of transition. They were independence, advocacy, social skills, and something else that I can't think of because all her words started to blur together at that point. LOL. Then we had lunch. For those who went to STEP, remember when the parents were there and we got the really nice buffet lunch in the cafeteria instead of that crap in styrofoam? Okay. I know I spelled that wrong but I don't care much. Anyway, we got a better lunch today instead of the buffet in the cafeteria thanks to the fact that all the speakers and rehab counselors were there. It was a schmoozefest. Then we went to the second workshop. I'm glad I went to the one I did. The other choice was this guy talking about brain injuries and vision loss that the O&M's raved about. He's an expert, I'm sure, but he's SO boring. He was a keynote speaker before the seminars began and I got another good nap. Actually, I stayed awake through most of it. Anyway, that was it. then I came back to my office and did nothing. Such fun. The one bright spot was that Gw Micro called and they're shipping my Braille Sense back today. Yay! It sucks that I had to pay $70 though. Well, I'm trying to figure out what to do with the last 15 minutes I have left. If anyone feels like calling me and just talking, feel free. This is really boring. Well, take care everyone. I can't think of anything more to say. Oh. Except that I'm going to Children's Theatre today. I have mobility tomorrow and choir on Thursday. I'm performing in the theatre stuff on Saturday and Sunday for the next three weeks. Oh boy. Oh. I'm working on the 25th too because we have a Halloween carnival. I wonder what I'm gonna do because if it's craft stuff then I might be out of the loop. Such fun. I was one of the ones who didn't have an assignment today either. sigh. Well, I'm really going now. I guess I can't create anything less than a long post every time.
Peace and love to all,
Leena

Hey, thanks for reminding me about the Halloween carnival! I know it's mostly for kids, but I love Halloween, so I'll be there anyway and I'll be there for all the October graduates!
